Is anyone else dealing with bot fraud purchases on their site? How did you solve it?
Hey everyone!
Over the past three months, our website has been under constant attacks that appear to be carried out by automated bots, resulting in mass fraudulent purchases. I wanted to know if anyone here has gone through something similar and how you managed to resolve it.
What’s happening on our end:
- Over 100 orders per day, all canceled afterwards.
- The purchases are made in sequence, within a very short time frame.
- The orders show strange patterns:
- Names and addresses always different;
- Identical purchase amounts;
- In some cases, fake or invalid SSNs and credit cards.
Consequences for our business:
- These orders completely mess up our sales metrics, disrupting reports and analysis.
- We’re dealing with unnecessary manual work to review everything, which slows down our operations.
- We have no way to block IPs or IDs, since the data used is randomized, which makes filtering even more complicated.
My question:
Has anyone here ever dealt with this type of attack?
If so, what did you do that actually worked?
Were you able to fix it with some reCAPTCHA configuration, rate limiting by IP, or some specific technical solution on VTEX (or another platform)?
Any tips, experiences, or recommendations are more than welcome! We’re looking for an urgent solution, as this is severely impacting how our e-commerce operates.
Thanks in advance! ![]()
In our case, we opened a ticket with VTEX and worked with them to make some configurations in the checkout, mainly the re-captcha. Something that solved the issue on our end.
