A crucial part of integrating orders from marketplaces into a VTEX store is mapping the shipping method for each order, which ensures that the correct shipping strategy will be used for fulfillment. Different marketplaces have different rules and methods for this mapping, and this topic aims to explain how it is done for integrations with the Magazine Luiza (Magalu) marketplace and how to ensure that no errors occur.
The main way the integration maps the shipping method for orders coming from Magalu is through the Shipping Type, which is a characteristic of any shipping policy. So, in the example below, orders created on Magalu with the delivery method “Normal” will be associated, in VTEX, with Carrier 1; meanwhile, orders with the delivery method “Express” will be associated with Carrier 2:
However, this mapping is done using the name of the shipping type, so if there is no equivalent within the logistics setup for the method defined in Magalu, the order will not be integrated. In the example below, we have an order that was processed with an error in the store’s bridge because the delivery method in Magalu was set to “Conventional” without a Shipping Type with that name existing:
Taking these scenarios into account, the VTEX-Magalu integration allows the use of the “Custom SLA Mapping” tool, in which the merchant can associate Magalu delivery methods as synonyms for specific Shipping Types in VTEX. To access this tool, we need to open the “Marketplaces and Integrations” section in the admin and edit the Magalu integration:
In the Custom SLA Mapping field, we fill in the “From” field with the name of the delivery method sent by Magalu (in this case, “Conventional”) and the “To” field with the desired Shipping Type (in this case, “Express”). After clicking the + button, the result will look like this:
When filling in these fields, keep in mind that the mapping is case-sensitive, as well as sensitive to special characters. For the mapping to work, the values entered must be exactly the same as those defined on both sides.
Afterward, we can save this change and verify the final result:
It is important to note that this process only needs to be done if the method sent by Magalu does not have an equivalent among the store’s Shipping Types, or if the goal is to use a specific shipping method. It is also important to confirm that the mapping is being filled in with the Shipping Type and not with other information, such as the name of the Shipping Strategy.
This process must also be done for FOB-type deliveries within Magalu, since for the integration to work, a valid delivery method within VTEX is always required so that stock and freight can be validated.
Finally, if the integration has orders that were processed with errors like the example above, after configuring the mapping we recommend manually reprocessing those orders.
