Good morning, we’re now having another product submission issue related to SKU character limits — how can we fix this? Because in VTEX, each SKU includes the full product description followed by the product’s color or size.

This error means that the SKU name has more characters than Shopee allows. Ideally, names should be up to 30 characters to be accepted on the Marketplace.

Basically, this 30-character limit is Shopee’s restriction for variations (SKUs) — the product name itself can have up to 255 characters, but for variations it’s limited to 30.

In other words, this is a Shopee limitation. Here’s their documentation:

In this case, unfortunately you’ll need to adjust the names of these SKUs, and possibly remove some specifications so they fit within that limit — does that make sense?

Hi Karina! Yes, I understood, but why does the SKU in VTEX show the full description name and then the variation names next to it?! Is there a way to change that? Because it’s VTEX that sends the information to Shopee. As shown in the photo below, this is how it looks in VTEX.

Hey @amanda.lopes, I think it might be related to the way you register the product in your ERP. :thinking:

That’s because VTEX is “passive” in that sense — the name of an SKU is the name assigned to it, whether via API, integration, or Admin. Somehow you’re registering the SKU with that name, you know what I mean?
