[Incident Report] Errors in the Shopee integration

"On January 19, 2024, at 01:05 UTC, multiple accounts reported authentication failures in the Shopee integration app. This blocked merchants from fulfilling Shopee orders in the VTEX Admin, since those orders were not coming through to their accounts.

Upon further investigation in our application logs, our incident response team discovered that errors started on January 16, after the deployment of a security fix in our authentication services.

Unfortunately, our Shopee integration app was relying on an authentication behavior that was part of the scope of the security fix. Once this behavior was disallowed, the authentication flow for the app started to fail.

Once this unexpected side-effect of our security fix was discovered, the team responsible for the integration launched a new version that no longer depended on the deprecated authentication behavior, causing errors to cease on January 19 at 14:20 UTC."

Case update: Errors on the product management page in the Shopee integration.

On January 19, 2024, some accounts reported errors on the product management page of the VTEX integration with Shopee. The error was characterized by the message ā€œAn error occurred while fetching the removal categoryā€ in the bottom right corner of the page, preventing the page from being used.

Afterward, the team responsible for the integration identified the issue and was able to fix it on February 1, 2024, applying the necessary correction directly to the integration app’s code, thus stabilizing the rendering flow of the Product Management screen.
