Hello, I have some questions regarding the seller portal and external seller.
We are going to connect a seller who already has an API and we’d like to set them up as an external seller, but we’re unsure because we need some important features in our store, and we need to know whether we should go with the external seller or if the portal would be a better option.
Subscriptions — would it be possible to use them with the external seller or with the portal?
Promotions — I read in the documentation that the external seller only supports regular promotions; is the same true for the seller portal? We give a gift on the 3rd subscription recurrence.
I also read in the seller portal documentation that it’s not possible to work with kits — is that still the case? Can we work with kits with the external seller? Since most of our products are kits.
It is possible for subscription orders to be created with items sold by the seller, yes. However, the management of these orders, as well as the availability of items for recurrence, would need to be aligned with the seller.
In the case of the seller portal, the promotions rule is the same: it is possible to create regular promotions with nominal discounts, percentage discounts, and shipping promotions.
Regarding kits, you cannot create a Kit in the Seller Portal, and if you import a Kit from the Marketplace it is imported as a regular SKU — meaning the seller sets stock for the Kit as a whole and not for each individual component as happens with a regular SKU. So it is not possible to create kits from items received via the seller’s catalog, but it is possible to receive the kit SKU directly and then work with it. The ideal approach is to receive the kit SKU already set up during the integration.
Regarding promotions, the rule is the same for both external sellers and portal sellers: it’s possible to create regular promotions with nominal discounts, percentage discounts, and shipping promotions: Seller Portal: Creating a promotion.
For subscriptions, orders can be created with SKUs sold by any type of seller modality — it works exactly as Suzi mentioned above.
Regarding kits, an external seller could send the kit as a single SKU so that the inventory and price information indexed by the seller are sent to the marketplace.
However, when creating a kit in the marketplace with SKUs coming from sellers, you can create the product that will be the kit, but the inventory and price information indexed by the seller won’t be passed along. The kit will be created with the SKUs without the link to the seller.
