Checkout Translation (Checkout multilanguage)

Hi, a customer has a store with 4 bindings (pt-BR/es-MX/es-CO/es-CL) and everything is working fine on the store itself, but when going to checkout, even though the route keeps the binding (/es, /co, /cl), the configs are lost and checkout falls back to pt-BR with the default (BR) policies. Does any config need to be done in checkout? Should a specific checkout be created for each language? How should we proceed?

The store is on VTEX IO, and checkout v6.81.3

Hey @hythan, how’s it going?

The suspected cause of this problem is related to the default language configuration for the binding being different from the policy associated with it.

Check out what the community discussed in this topic:

The suggestion further down in the topic will be this one:

The suggestion is for you to do this check based on the documentation. If the problem still persists after that, I’d recommend opening a ticket directly with VTEX Support.

Cheers,
Estevão.

Oops! Thanks for the info, I went to check the apps (since they were all already installed) and apparently the client had disabled the policy switch in the binding selector. One question about the binding countries app — the documentation is a bit unclear, I didn’t quite understand how the settings should be configured. Is it just a matter of installing the app, and where should that example configuration be applied? How is it called?

Hey @hythan, how’s it going?

After you install the APP in the admin via CLI (as per the docs), you’ll need to declare and configure the props inside your store-theme.

The documentation walks you through this process step by step. See more details here – Configuration Binding-Selector

After that, it will show up as an account configuration menu for the Building Selector feature, and only then will you be able to configure the flags, just like in the gif example you saw.

I hope this information helps you out.

To add to that: you also asked about how to do it with Countries Binding — from what I analyzed in the docs, you need to install a custom app. See more information here in the manifest.json binding-countries/manifest.json at master · vtex-apps/binding-countries · GitHub

Either way, it’s really not clear how you install or make this call within these documents. I think @georgebrindeiro, @AnaMB, or @zerebelo could help with that specific part.

Cheers,
Estevão.

Hey @estevao_santos, all good with you?
Thanks a lot for the help! I’ll wait and see if any of the 3 you tagged can share more info about the app.
